About

Hotel Shangri-La Roma By Omnia Hotels

Hotel Shangri-La Roma sits in the quiet EUR district, a business and residential area south of central Rome. It offers a practical base for those who don’t need to be in the historic core, with the Euroma2 shopping complex less than a ten-minute walk away and a metro station reachable by foot or a short bus ride. The hotel’s own grounds include a garden, outdoor pool, and ample free parking, which is rare for Rome.

Inside, the property is modern and functional, with a lobby currency exchange, a coffee shop, and a restaurant that serves both upstairs seafood and downstairs pizza – a combination that several guests singled out. Rooms are spacious, many with balconies, soundproofing, and parquet floors. The staff is consistently described as friendly and helpful. While the location is not central, guests who appreciate a quieter setting and easy access to the EUR business zone find it a solid choice.

In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Convenient for EUR and business travellers — The hotel sits in the quiet EUR district, close to the business zone, with a metro and bus stop providing access to central Rome. Multiple reviews note it as ideal for business trips.
  • Free on-site parking — Parking is available on site at no extra cost – a notable advantage in Rome, where street parking is limited and paid parking is common.
  • Outdoor pool and pleasant garden — The pool area is a highlight, particularly appreciated by families and those looking to relax after a day of sightseeing. The garden furniture adds to the outdoor appeal.
  • Spacious rooms with modern comforts — Rooms are reported to be large, well-decorated, and equipped with air conditioning, soundproofing, and tea/coffee facilities. Many have balconies.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Not within walking distance of central Rome — The hotel is in the EUR district, a 15–20 minute drive from the historic centre. Guests relying on public transport need to take a bus or short walk to the metro. Some reviews note it as “a bit out of the city”.
  • Restaurant and bar hours can be unpredictable — One review reports the restaurant closed entirely for August, with the bar also shut upon evening arrival. Staff were unaware of nearby dining options, which caused inconvenience.
  • Rooms and cleanliness rated below other categories — The lowest rating category at 7/10 suggests that some guests find the rooms or cleanliness inconsistent, though specific complaints are rare in reviews.
  • No pets allowed and strict check-in window — Pets are not permitted, and check-in is only possible between 15:00 and 23:59. Late arrivals outside this window may not be accommodated.

“The location was decent – quite a walk from the Novecento Sculpture, but close to the EUR district of Rome.”

8.7Verified guest

“The whole stay was really good, especially for a business trip. It was quiet and there was a commercial centre nearby.”

8.7Verified guest

“Perfect hotel – we had a huge room with a great view. The staff were lovely, kept everything clean, and the breakfast was generous and the best we had in Rome. Service was nice and the pool was good. Its location relatively near a covered stadium was lovely and marvellous.”

8.7Verified guest

“Good food, very good service, and a magnificent view of the garden and outdoor pool. Plenty of food available in the restaurant. Decent, perfect location in Rome, next to the Amalfi coast and the metro stop. Also a five-minute drive from EUR.”

8.7Verified guest

“The restaurant had excellent fish upstairs and the best pizza in Rome I’ve had in three trips downstairs. The restaurant staff were extremely professional and polite. My wife and I really enjoyed dining and wining there.”

8.7Verified guest

“It’s a fabulous place, but don’t judge too hastily. We arrived after 7pm on the first day – bad move. The restaurant was closed for August (what is that about? Get real!). The bar was shut and staff directed us to a restaurant miles away which without a car we couldn’t find. What they didn’t know is that there is a shopping complex just across the road with about 20 eating places. The hotel is very handy for access into Rome via bus and tube. Quirky but really nice. Breakfast was really good.”
